Railinc Corp. has announced a new webinar for the Comprehensive Equipment Performance Monitoring (CEPM) program. This free webinar is being offered on two dates and will present an overview of CEPM-Wheelsets and barcoding standards to help OEMs meet new barcoding requirements. Railinc recommends that railcar wheel shops, repair shops, original equipment manufacturers (OEMs), and software providers participate to prepare for the January, 2012 implementation of CEPM-Wheelsets.

Cary, NC, September 29, 2011 (James Street Media Services)--Railinc announced today an upgrade to its Switching Settlements Data Exchange (SSDX) that makes the exchange more accessible to railroads with limited IT resources. New features of the exchange include an enhanced Excel file layout that railroads can populate with data on switching charges and a web interface through which users can easily upload the file.



Cary, NC, August 9, 2011 (James Street Media Services)--Railinc announced today that the first phase of the Comprehensive Equipment Performance Monitoring (CEPM) program is underway and on-target for implementation in January 2012. A multi-phase, multi-year industry-wide initiative, CEPM will result in an entirely new database of railcar equipment component information. This data will provide better information that can be used to develop faster and more cost-effective component recalls, prevent derailments, lower operating costs and improve equipment maintenance planning. To accomplish this the railroad industry is developing a new process and related technology tools that will be introduced, starting with wheelsets, in 2012. CEPM will later be expanded to cover other components.

CARY, NC, January 25, 2011 (James Street Media Services)—Railinc Corp. announced today that the new Damaged and Defective Car Tracking (DDCT) system was successfully launched and is now operational for rail carriers, freight car owners and freight car repair shops. Authorized users across the rail industry are now using the new tracking system to enter and respond to damaged and defective car incidents, effectively making the approximately 125-year-old paper defect card obsolete.
