FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Cary, NC, October 4, 2011 (James Street Media Services)--Railinc today announced an upgrade to the Early Warning/Maintenance Advisory system that enhances rail industry communication about rail equipment conditions and makes it easier for railroads to access data essential for the safe movement of freight.

“The Early Warning system provides railroads, repair shops, manufacturers and rail car owners with up-to-date data on rail equipment,” said Allen West, president and CEO. “This upgrade helps critical information about rail equipment get to the people that need the information and makes rail business workflow more efficient--all in the name of safety.”

A service of the Association of American Railroads, the Early Warning system facilitates the identification of and communication about mechanical problems with rail equipment that can affect safety. With the recent upgrade, railroads now can subscribe to email notifications about specific units of equipment; conduct advanced queries that include data from the Umler™ system; more easily view current and historical data; and report repairs and inspections.
