Traffic Club of Chicago Looks at the Current State of Air Freight

September 19 Program Features Shawn McWhorter of Nippon Cargo Airlines

CHICAGO, IL—September 11, 2013 (James Street Media Services)—The next Executive Series Luncheon hosted by The Traffic Club of Chicago on Thursday, September 19 will feature an insider’s look at trends in the air freight industry with Shawn McWhorter, president of Nippon Cargo Airlines (NCA).

The “What’s Up—and Down—with Air Freight?” presentation will examine changes in behavior of both air freight shippers and carriers. McWhorter will discuss recent volatility in demand and cost, look at how fluctuations in passenger air service impact air cargo, and discuss ways the industry can work toward improved stability.

James Giblin, chairman of the Traffic Club Education Committee, said the program will have value for rail and truck shippers, as well as those who ship by air.

“This will be a great behind-the-scenes look at what it takes to maintain a stable supply chain,” said Giblin.

McWhorter joined NCA in March 2007, and is responsible for the North and South America regions. He has more than 20 years of experience working for airlines, mostly in cargo.  Prior to NCA, he worked for Northwest Airlines and Delta.
